Upcoming Community Events
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are most of your events?
We host most events in or around Lincoln, Nebraska.
What types of public events do you host?
We host a variety of board game–focused events throughout the year like Cozy Game Nights, fundraisers, and larger community events like the Great Plains Game Festival. Each event has its own vibe, but all are centered on connection, play, and community.
What is a Cozy Game Night?
Cozy Game Nights are relaxed, welcoming evenings built around a featured board game, shared food, and low-pressure play. These events are designed for both beginners and experienced gamers — no competitive atmosphere, just good company and thoughtful fun.
Do I need to bring or know how to play games for these events?
Not at all! We take time to teach games during many of our event and the board game community is full of friendly faces who will show you the ropes. Our goal is for everyone to feel comfortable learning and playing, even if it’s your first board game ever!
Is there a cost to attend your community events?
Some events are free, while others have a small fee to help cover food, supplies, and programming costs. The price is always listed on the individual event page.
Who runs these events?
These events are hosted or promoted by the Great Plains Gaming Project. We're a 501c3 nonprofit run by a team of volunteers and organizers who love board games and care deeply about building welcoming community spaces.
